What are porcelain veneers?
Porcelain veneers are thin, custom-shaped layers of ceramic that bond to the front of your natural teeth. They're used to correct cosmetic issues that whitening or bonding alone can't fix — things like permanent stains, chips, minor misalignment, gaps, or worn-down teeth.
Because they're made from real dental porcelain, they reflect light the way natural enamel does — which is why they look so lifelike. And because each one is custom-made to match your mouth, the result looks like the best version of your own smile.
What veneers can fix
- Permanent discoloration or tetracycline stains
- Worn-down or short teeth from grinding
- Chipped, cracked, or fractured front teeth
- Minor misalignment or uneven spacing
- Gaps between teeth
- Unusually shaped or undersized teeth
What the process looks like
- Consultation. We listen to what you want, take photos, and walk you through whether veneers are the right fit — or if a combination of treatments would serve you better.
- Design. Using photos and digital imaging, we design the shape, color, and proportions of your new smile before any tooth is touched.
- Preparation. A very thin layer of enamel is removed from the front of each tooth to make room for the veneer. We take an impression and fit you with temporary veneers to preview the look.
- Fabrication. Your custom porcelain veneers are crafted at a master dental lab — usually over 1–2 weeks.
- Bonding. At your second appointment, we carefully try in each veneer, make any small adjustments, and then permanently bond them to your teeth. You walk out with a brand new smile.
How long do they last?
With proper care, porcelain veneers can last 15–20 years or more. They're durable, stain-resistant, and require nothing more than normal brushing and flossing to maintain.
Good candidates
You're likely a good candidate if your teeth and gums are healthy, you don't grind your teeth severely (or you're willing to wear a nightguard), and you're looking for a significant cosmetic improvement that's built to last.
If you're not sure, come in for a consultation. We'll give you an honest read on whether veneers — or a different treatment — would best get you where you want to go.
Frequently Asked Questions
How long do porcelain veneers last?+
With proper care, porcelain veneers can last 15 to 20 years or more. They're durable, stain-resistant, and require nothing more than normal brushing and flossing to maintain.
Do veneers look natural?+
Yes. Each veneer is custom-crafted from dental porcelain that reflects light the way natural enamel does. Dr. Perry matches the shape, color, and proportion to your face so the result looks like your own smile — just better.
Does getting veneers hurt?+
The preparation involves removing a very thin layer of enamel, which is done with local anesthetic so you won't feel a thing. Most patients report little to no discomfort during or after the process.
How many appointments does it take?+
Typically two to three appointments spread over a few weeks — a consultation, a preparation visit where impressions are taken and temporaries are placed, and a final bonding appointment when your permanent veneers are set.
Can veneers fix crooked teeth?+
Veneers can correct the appearance of minor misalignment, gaps, and uneven spacing. For more significant alignment issues, Dr. Perry may recommend Invisalign first, followed by veneers for the finishing touch.
Am I a good candidate for veneers?+
You're likely a good candidate if your teeth and gums are healthy and you don't grind your teeth severely. If you're not sure, come in for a consultation — Dr. Perry will give you an honest recommendation.
